How to Pack a Suitcase
So you have your clothes, accessories and other things you want to pack. Now What! How to pack a suitcase? What's the best way to fit everything into your suitcase and your carry-on (or personal item if you are carrying on your primary suitcase.) - Start by packing the heaviest items on what will be the bottom of the bag when you are carrying or wheeling it.
- Books
- Shoes
- Toiletries Bag
- Pack your underwear, socks, and t-shirts or silk turtlenecks in small packing cubes. Roll the clothes and you will be surprised how much you can fit in a small cube.
Packing cubes are easy to find inside your suitcase. Its easy to count how many clean clothes you have left. And your suitcase will be less of a mess if the TSA decides to look through it and rearrange your careful packing job.
- Roll your knit shirts and lightweight sweaters and tops and pack them in a larger cube. (One should be enough. You're packing light remember)
- If it's summer, you can roll your shorts and put them (you guessed it) in another small or medium cube.
- Arrange the packing cubes inside your suitcase.
You can place some of the smaller cubes on their sides around the edge of the suitcase or even in outside pockets.- Fill in any spaces or holes with small items.
The idea is to create a flat layer.
- Fold your slacks and shirts and place them in the suitcase.
You can put them in dry cleaner bags or place tissue paper between them. This will help prevent wrinkles (Hopefully, most of your clothes will be wrinkle-free or wrinkle resistant.)
